§
Privacy
Last updated: 8 May 2026.
1. Who we are
BlueMountView (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a guesthouse and coffee farm located in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website (bluemountview.com).
If you have any questions about this notice or about how we handle your personal data, please write to us at hello@bluemountview.com.
2. What we collect and why
We only collect information that helps us respond to you, fulfil your booking or order, and improve the site:
- Contact & enquiry forms — name, email address, phone number (if provided), and the content of your message.
- Tour and event bookings — preferred dates, group size, and any special requirements you share.
- Coffee shop orders — billing/shipping name and address, email address, and the products you purchase. We never see or store your card details; payments are processed securely by Stripe.
- Gift vouchers — purchaser name and email, recipient name and email, and any personal message you choose to include.
- Analytics — anonymised usage data (page views, device type, approximate location at country level) to understand which parts of the site are useful.
3. Legal basis for processing
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation, EU GDPR (where applicable), and Jamaica’s Data Protection Act 2020 we rely on one of the following lawful bases:
- Contract — to fulfil your order, voucher purchase, or booking.
- Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries, prevent fraud, and run our business.
- Consent — for any non-essential cookies (see our Cookie Policy).
- Legal obligation — to keep transaction records for tax and accounting purposes.
4. Who we share data with
We share your data only with trusted service providers who help us run the site, and only to the extent strictly necessary:
- Stripe — payment processing for the coffee shop and gift vouchers.
- Resend — transactional email delivery (order confirmations, voucher delivery, enquiry responses).
- Supabase — secure database hosting for our content and your enquiries.
- Vercel — website hosting and content delivery.
- Airbnb — when you book a room with us, the booking transaction itself happens on Airbnb under their own terms and privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone, ever.
5. International transfers
Some of the providers above process data outside Jamaica (typically in the UK, EU, or US). Where this happens we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards required under UK/EU GDPR and Jamaica’s Data Protection Act.
6. How long we keep your data
- Enquiries — up to 24 months after our last contact, to help if you reach out again.
- Coffee orders & voucher records — at least 7 years, as required by tax and accounting law.
- Analytics — aggregated and retained for up to 26 months.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you,
- have it corrected if it’s inaccurate,
- request its deletion (subject to record-keeping obligations),
- restrict or object to processing,
- request a portable copy,
- withdraw consent where we relied on it,
- and lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority — the UK ICO (ico.org.uk) or Jamaica’s Office of the Information Commissioner.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@bluemountview.com and we’ll respond within 30 days.
8. Cookies
See our separate Cookie Policy below for the full breakdown.
9. Children
This site is not aimed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has shared information with us, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page tells you when the latest version was published.
§
Terms
Last updated: 8 May 2026.
1. About these terms
These terms govern your use of bluemountview.com and any orders, voucher purchases, or enquiries you make through it. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
2. About us
BlueMountView is a guesthouse and coffee farm in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. To contact us, email hello@bluemountview.com.
3. Using the website
You may browse, share, and refer back to our content for personal, non-commercial use. You may not republish, scrape, or commercially exploit any of the content (including photography) without our prior written permission.
4. Room bookings
Accommodation bookings are managed through Airbnb. When you click “Book a stay” you’re redirected to our Airbnb listing where the booking, payment, and cancellation policy are governed by Airbnb’s terms — not ours. Please read the cancellation policy on the listing carefully before booking.
5. Tour bookings
All tour requests submitted through the site are quotations until we confirm availability and pricing in writing. We aim to respond within 24 hours.
Tours operate at our discretion based on weather, road, and trail conditions. If we have to cancel a tour for safety reasons we will offer you a free reschedule or a full refund — your choice.
Group sizes, fitness levels, and any access requirements should be flagged at the time of booking so we can advise on suitability.
6. Coffee shop orders
- Prices are shown in your selected currency (GBP, USD, or JMD) and include any applicable taxes; shipping is calculated separately at checkout.
- By placing an order you confirm the goods are for personal use (or for resale only with our prior written agreement).
- Orders are accepted only when we send a confirmation email — until then we may refuse the order (e.g. for stock or shipping reasons) and refund any payment in full.
- We aim to dispatch within 5 working days. Shipping times vary by destination and are estimates only.
- Coffee is a perishable food product. Once dispatched, returns are accepted only for goods damaged in transit or not as described — please email us within 7 days of receipt with photographs.
- Refunds, where due, are issued to the original payment method within 14 days.
7. Gift vouchers
- Vouchers are valid for one year from the date of purchase, after which they expire and have no value.
- Vouchers are single-use: any unused balance after redemption is forfeit. If you redeem a £100 voucher against a £40 order, the remaining £60 is not refunded or carried forward.
- Vouchers are non-refundable once issued (except where required by law).
- Vouchers may be redeemed against any in-stock coffee or shop product on bluemountview.com. Tour redemptions are arranged with us directly — contact us with the code and we’ll honour any active voucher.
- Lost or stolen vouchers cannot be replaced. Treat the code like cash.
8. Intellectual property
All content on this site — including text, photography, logo, and design — is owned by BlueMountView or licensed to us. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute it without our written permission.
9. User-submitted content
If you send us reviews, photos, or other material (whether by email or otherwise), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it on the site and in our marketing. You retain ownership; you can ask us to remove any specific content at any time.
10. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that can’t be excluded by law.
Subject to that, our total liability for any claim arising out of your use of the site, an order, or a voucher is limited to the amount you paid us in respect of that order or voucher.
11. Force majeure
We’re not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control — including extreme weather, road closures, power outages, government action, or third-party service failures.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Jamaica. Any dispute will be settled in the courts of Jamaica, except where consumer law in your country of residence gives you the right to use a local court.
13. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the current version. Material changes will be flagged on the site or by email if you’re an active customer.
